ABOUT UT47
Where Seoul Meets the Mediterranean.

UT47 was never meant to fit
into a single category —
and that was always the point.

Born from the unlikely intersection of Korean culinary roots and a European kitchen education, UT47 Kitchen & Bar is the living expression of one woman's journey — from Seoul to Florida, from Florida to the heart of Hell's Kitchen, New York.
A Kitchen in Florida
Mia's culinary story did not begin in a formal cooking school or a celebrated restaurant kitchen. It began with a chance encounter in a Florida hotel — and a Greek chef who cooked with the kind of quiet confidence that only comes from years of hands deeply rooted in tradition. Under his mentorship, Mia learned not just technique, but philosophy. The Greek and broader European approach to food — its reverence for simplicity, for honest ingredients, for the communal act of sharing a table — left an indelible mark on everything she would go on to create. But Mia brought something equally powerful to that kitchen: a Korean sensibility shaped by a lifetime of flavors — fermented, layered, bold, and always deeply intentional. Two culinary worlds, learning from each other.
Why "UT"?
The Name Behind the Name

Long before there was a restaurant, there was a little girl named Yu — and a gift that would follow her for the rest of her life.It was the era of E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. The whole world was in love with Spielberg's gentle alien, and Mia's father was no exception. He surprised young Mia with an E.T. doll bag — the kind of gift only a devoted parent gives, chosen with so much love that she couldn't bear to leave it at home. So she carried it everywhere. Her school friends noticed. And because her last name was Yu, and she was inseparable from that little E.T. bag, the nickname wrote itself: "Yu.T" — Yu's E.T. At first, she hated it. The way kids always hate the things that make them accidentally, perfectly themselves. But time has a way of turning embarrassment into identity. As Mia grew up, the nickname faded for most people — but not for her closest friends. The ones who truly knew her still called her UT. And in that, the name became something else entirely: a quiet signal of intimacy, of history, of the kind of friendship that doesn't need explanation. UT means old friend. UT means the people you choose to keep.
And that is exactly what this place was built to be — a room where those friendships happen, deepen, and are celebrated over food that tastes like it was made with someone in mind.

What We Believe

Roots Over Trends Every menu decision traces back to real culinary heritage — Korean fermentation traditions, Mediterranean ingredient philosophy, and the timeless principle that honest food needs no embellishment.

Hospitality as Identity In Korean culture, feeding someone is an act of love. In European tradition, the table is sacred. At UT47, we carry both — every guest is welcomed as if they are sitting at Mia's own table.

Inclusion Without Compromise Our commitment to vegan and gluten-free menus was never a concession — it was a conviction. Great food should have a seat at the table for everyone, without sacrificing an ounce of flavor or craft.

This Is Your
Table Now
UT isn't just a name — it's an invitation. It's what Mia's closest friends called her growing up, and what this place has always been about: the people you keep, the meals you remember, the evenings that turn into something more than dinner.

Whether you walked in for the first time today or you've had this corner table for years — at UT47, you're already an old friend.

Come as you are. Stay as long as you like.

We ordered hot stone bibimbap, fried chicken, and fried tofu- everything was amazing. And the ratio of all cocktails were amazing as well. Will be coming back for happy hour. Great ambience in the evening too.

The food was so wonderful, and the service was amazing! Yuti, the head chef and owner, was so friendly and kind. The ambiance was also great, we enjoyed chatting and didn’t feel rushed at all. Lots of incredible vegan and gluten free options!

Great brunch! The Penny Benny Chicken plate had a generous portion with crispy potato and salad — good sides to complete the plate. Don’t skip the Mandu. They were really tasty.
